The device is wireless connected to the main panel and send a signal as soon as the magnet and sensor get separated. For best results, it is recommended not to mount the sensor directly on a metal surface and keep a recommended gap of a 1/4 inch apart when the doors/window/entryway is closed. Besides this, your device comes with a starter battery.
