Apart from historical structures Yingde is also famous for its black tea. It is said that Yingde is known to have cultivated black tea since more than a millennium ago! The No. 9 variety of the Yingde black tea or Hong Cha has been mass produced and made intrinsic to this region for almost six decades now. Made from a plant of the No. 9 variety, this particular tea is the result of testing and research. The tea is produced through the process of withering, rolling, fermenting, gross fire and complete fire. The tea, when added to water emits a thick soup-like viscosity and possesses as enthralling aroma.
