Description
An ultrafiltration (UF) filter is a type of membrane filtration used to separate suspended particles and solutes from a liquid stream. UF filters use a semipermeable membrane with pore sizes in the range of 0.01 to 0.1 microns, which is smaller than those used in microfiltration and larger than those used in nanofiltration or reverse osmosis. This allows UF filters to remove substances such as suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, and viruses from a liquid, while allowing smaller molecules such as water and dissolved ions to pass through. UF filters are commonly used in water treatment, food and beverage processing, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
