This mode is great for scenes that need to be photographed quickly without having the time to select the right set of settings manually to create a beautiful photo. The Auto Mode analyses all the elements of the scene before it and chooses the right set of settings to create a beautiful picture. This also means that you do not have to worry too much about manually setting it.
